Clinical Activities (not related to teaching or research): This position provides primary clinical care in the Center for Women’s Health primary care clinic. This position works with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive primary care to women, both adult and adolescent. This care may expand to male patients. This faculty member is expected to provide an outstanding level of clinical performance. APP faculty members are often called upon to partner with other providers and members of the department or division research support staff in research activity. APP faculty members are expected to participate in clinical research as needed, often with the help of trained research support staff and senior faculty principal investigators.   Education (include types of teaching and types of student taught): This position provides clinical education to fellows, residents, and medical students participating in either OB/Gyn, Internal Medicine or Family Medicine rotations. The Program Director must administer and maintain an educational environment conducive to educating the residents in each of the ACGME competency areas. The Program Director must: - oversee and ensure the quality of didactic and clinical education in all sites that participate in the program; - approve a local director at each participating site who is accountable for resident education; - approve the selection of program faculty as appropriate; - evaluate program faculty and approve the continued participation of program faculty based on evaluation; - monitor resident supervision at all participating sites; - oversee development and execution of a comprehensive curriculum that meets the specialty requirements for training in that specialty, including overall goals and rotation-specific goals and objectives. - oversee development and execution of a competency-based evaluation system to monitor the progress of individual residents throughout the program. - continue implementation process of Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) program - ensure that faculty evaluates resident performance for each educational experience and documents the evaluation. - ensure that the program completes and documents a formal systematic evaluation of the program at least annually, specifically assessing the effectiveness of the program in meeting the overall goals of training in that specialty. Ensure that the attributes of the residency program are explicitly defined: resident performance, program quality, faculty development, graduate performance. - develop program-specific policies as discussed in the ACGME Institutional Requirements for selection, evaluation, and promotion of residents, disciplinary action, and supervision of residents. - prepare and submit all information required and requested by the ACGME, including but not limited to the program information forms and annual program resident updates to the ADS, and ensure that the information submitted is accurate and complete; - provide each resident with documented semiannual evaluation of performance with feedback; - ensure compliance with grievance and due process procedures as set forth in the Institutional Requirements and implemented by the sponsoring institution; - provide verification of residency education for all residents, including those who leave the program prior to completion; implement policies and procedures consistent with the institutional and program requirements for resident duty hours and the working environment, including moonlighting, and, to that end, must: - distribute these policies and procedures to the residents and faculty; - monitor resident clinical and education work hours, according to sponsoring institutional policies, with a frequency sufficient to ensure compliance with ACGME requirements; - adjust schedules as necessary to mitigate excessive service demands and/or fatigue; and, - if applicable, monitor the demands of at-home call and adjust schedules as necessary to mitigate excessive service demands and/or fatigue. - monitor the need for and ensure the provision of back up support systems when patient care responsibilities are unusually difficult or prolonged; create contingency plans for unexpected absences due to illness, inclement weather, bereavement, family leave, etc, and assist with communication to site directors, faculty, and trainees as needed. - comply with the sponsoring institution’s written policies and procedures, including those specified in the Institutional Requirements, for selection, evaluation and promotion of residents, disciplinary action, and supervision of residents; - be familiar with and comply with ACGME and Review Committee policies and procedures as outlined in the ACGME Manual of Policies and Procedures; - obtain review and approval of the sponsoring institution’s GMEC/DIO before submitting to the ACGME information or requests for the following: - all applications for ACGME accreditation of new programs; - changes in resident complement; - major changes in program structure or length of training; progress reports requested by the Review Committee; - responses to all proposed adverse actions; - requests for increases or any change to resident duty hours; - voluntary withdrawals of ACGME-accredited programs; - requests for appeal of an adverse action; - appeal presentations to a Board of Appeal or the ACGME; and, - proposals to ACGME for approval of innovative educational approaches. - obtain DIO review and co-signature on all program information forms, as well as any correspondence or document submitted to the ACGME that addresses: - program citations, and/or - request for changes in the program that would have significant impact, including financial, on the program or institution. - devote his or her principal effort to the program. - designate other well-qualified surgeons to assist in the supervision and education of the residents; - be responsible for all clinical assignments and input into the teaching staff appointments at all sites; - ensure that conferences should be scheduled to permit resident attendance on a regular basis, and resident time must be protected from interruption by routine clinical duties. Document of attendance by 75% of residents at the core conferences must be achieved; and, - ensure that the following types of conferences must exist within a program: - a course or a structured series of lectures that ensures education in the basic and clinical sciences fundamental to surgery, including technological advances that relate to surgery and the care of patients with surgical diseases as well as education in critical thinking, design of experiments and evaluation of data; - regular organized clinical teaching, such as grand rounds, ward rounds, and clinical conferences; - a weekly morbidity and mortality or quality improvement conference. - along with the physician faculty, assess the technical competence of each resident. - ensure that each resident has met all requirements for American Board of Surgery eligibility.

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for the Department of Neurological Surgery possesses specialized knowledge and skills in the care of adult patients with neurological disorders. Provides clinical modeling and education to departmental staff, house staff, and nursing staff.    Inpatient duties: In the operative and inpatient setting, patient care duties include: Assists with neurosurgical procedures, including craniotomies, spinal procedures (including instrumentations) and microscopic procedures. Conducts hospital rounds daily on all patients, including intensive care units. Writes orders and progress notes. Performs all admission history and physicals and inpatient consultations. Orders appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests, such as MRIs, CT scans, myelograms, bone scans and other radiographic studies.   Outpatient duties: In the outpatient setting, patient care duties include evaluation of both new patients and follow-ups and the completion of pre-operative assessments; triaging calls, prescription refill management, and care coordination.   This position is primarily Monday to Friday, with scheduled on-call shifts and weekend coverage from home or in the hospital.

The Division of Metabolic Health & Disease at the Oregon National Primate Research Center (ONPRC) and Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) is inviting applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor position to strengthen the Division’s research program in the areas of metabolism, physiology and endocrinology. Successful candidates would join a premier translational research facility focused on nonhuman primate models of human disease. ONPRC research is carried out in the laboratories of 46 principal investigators in the areas of metabolism, neuroscience, reproduction, genetics, and infectious disease using a colony of more than 4,700 nonhuman primates. Competitive applicants will have an established research program in the general area of metabolic disease (obesity, type 2 diabetes, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, cardiometabolic disease), endocrinology and metabolism, pancreatic and/or islet biology or central regulation of body weight or glucose homeostasis.   We seek an outstanding scientist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in a relevant discipline with demonstrated ability to obtain independent research funding and a track record of impactful publications. The successful candidate will have or develop an independent research program in metabolic research, as well as demonstrate the desire to collaborate with investigators in the highly diverse research environment of ONPRC. A CRNA is a member of the OHSU Professional Staff practicing in accordance with the respective bylaws.
