As a faculty member of the Division of Arthritis and Rheumatic Diseases, in the Department of Medicine  at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) you will report to the Division Head, Clinical Director, and Division Manager; and will be expected to contribute in each of the following areas:   Clinical Care: - Direct patient care in Arthritis and Rheumatic Diseases outpatient clinics (may include a combination of digital and face-to-face clinics at Marquam Hill-Physicians Pavilion, Beaverton Clinic, Orenco Station (Hillsboro, OR) and/or other OHSU outpatient locations) with a minimum of six (6) clinics per week. - Adult rheumatology inpatient consult service for 2-3 months per year. Includes OHSU-only consult weeks (Monday-Fridays) and combined OHSU and VA Portland Health Care System (VAPORHCS) weekend coverage.   - Potential assignment of eConsults and other direct and indirect patient care divisional needs assigned by the clinical director, should the need arise.  Administrative and other duties: - May be assigned based on divisional needs and your areas of expertise and interest, including opportunities to participate in and to serve on institutional committees. Teaching: - This position participates in the division’s teaching activities, including divisional conferences, student and fellow didactics and on OHSU committees as expected and approved by the Division and Department, including undergraduate medical education programs and School of Medicine graduate programs. There are resources available for start-up research and on-going support via established processes and opportunities. Faculty interested in doing research may be eligible to apply for departmental research assistance and non-clinical time through the Director of Research, Department Chair, and Division Head.

The Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit treats critically ill patients with neurological injuries. Care in the NSICU follows evidence-based guidelines and clinical pathways developed by the multidisciplinary team. The APP faculty is expected to work a fair share of weekday, night and weekend shifts. If desired, the APP faculty may choose a night shift-only assignment after an appropriate orientation period. Clinical Responsibilities: - Assessment and treatment of patients in the NSICU under the direction of critical care trained physician faculty, including performance of basic ICU procedures including arterial and central line placement and lumbar puncture. - Rounding on patients in the NSICU with physician faculty, fellows and residents and developing and implementing clinical plans of care. - Consultation with specialty care providers when appropriate. - Communication with patients and families about medical conditions, treatment plans, and progress. - Working with hospital and unit staff to develop and implement discharge plans for patients in the ICU, and promote patient health through education and counseling. - Timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record. - Collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary and interprofessional care team to ensure optimal patient care and continuously improve quality of care. - Adherence to best practice protocols and policies - Delivery of care compliant with the regulations and guidelines by the relevant regulatory bodies. - Treating all patients and co-workers with dignity and respect in alignment with the OHSU Code of Conduct. - Supporting a safe and welcoming environment where all can contribute and prosper. Education and Quality Improvement Responsibilities: - Orientation and education of trainees and nursing staff on the care standards and protocols in the NSICU. - Education of nursing staff, fellows, residents and medical students in formal and informal settings. - Participation in all relevant conferences and team meetings. - Collaboration with multidisciplinary and interprofessional care team members to establish or revise clinical pathways and patient education materials. Academic and professional development through attendance and/or participation at national/regional conferences is encouraged. The APP faculty may participate in a program of scholarly research activity directed toward improved understanding of the causes, detection, and treatment of diseases.

The Division of Adolescent Medicine at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital (DCH) seeks a full-time faculty member at the assistant or associate professor level. DCH is a 151-bed modern state-of-the art facility on the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) campus and serves as the tertiary and quaternary referral center for all of Oregon and SW Washington.  Currently, the Division of Adolescent Health has three faculty.    The duties of this position include: - This faculty member will provide patient care, including consultations with physicians at other regional medical centers. - This position will provide both primary and specialty care for adolescents and young adults. - Clinical work will include outpatient clinic and inpatient service at Doernbecher Children's Hospital. - Adolescent Health faculty members at OHSU also provide clinical teaching and supervision of Pediatric & Family Medicine residents and medical students, and other trainees, at DCH. - This position will educate both in the clinical environment and through conferences, seminars, and interdepartmental activities.

Staffing the Columbia Memorial Hospital Emergency Department as assigned by the Chair; participation in education of medical and paramedic students, house staff and nurses; participating in Emergency Department quality assurance activities.

Staffing the Hillsboro Medical Center Emergency Department as assigned by the Chair; participating in Emergency Department quality assurance activities; and provision of on-line medical consultation.

Conduct medical and vision evaluations of patients at Casey Eye Institute.  Duties include providing routine eye examinations, contact lens services, pre- and post-operative assessments of laser vision correction patients, prescribing glasses and performing related eye care services. Documents patient findings in the medical record per OHSU and CEI procedures and guidelines and communicates findings and recommendations to cornea ophthalmologists.  Serves as a resource for technician staff regarding patient refractive care and evaluation.   Assists with professional education events and courses presented by ophthalmologists, optometrists and other allied health professionals.  Completes required documentation such as case report forms; maintains patient records.

Clinical: - Provision of inpatient or outpatient clinical duties in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, as assigned. Research: - You will have the opportunity to engage in scholarly activity in the area of your expertise. Administrative, Educational, and Academic: - There are no specific administrative responsibilities assigned at this time. Educational responsibilities include meeting the general expectation related to the Fellowship and Resident rotations when on call, presenting at and otherwise participating in division grand rounds and other conferences. May be assigned to a PCCM fellow as a mentor. Will participate in fellowship recruitment. Further administrative and educational responsibilities will be developed in conjunction with the division chief.

This position is for 1.0 FTE and will be based primarily at General Pediatrics Clinic at Bethany Village, Beaverton, OR.

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will provide outpatient and inpatient medical management to patients with gastroenterology needs. Patient care activities occur in an ambulatory clinic or inpatient hospital. Daily duties include: - providing excellent patient care and consultative service in gastroenterology to address needs of the patient and requesting team, detailed documentation of visits, communicating findings with referring physicians. - Facilitate and coordinate services and referrals needed for effective management of patient needs, including patient education, diagnostic and screening procedures, and subspecialty evaluation.

- The faculty member will be expected to have a strong commitment to developing the practice into a vibrant clinical and academic operation, which is successful from both a professional and business point of view. - The PA or NP faculty member will be assigned a MD/DO supervisor in the practice, whom they will meet regularly to work collaboratively both on professional growth and faculty development. If the faculty member is a PA-C, supervision will be provided by an MD/DO supervisor as per OMB requirements. - The faculty member will be involved eight (based on 1.0 FTE may be less based on FTE hired into), half days with direct patient care, and the supervision of students and other university learners at the OHSU Family Medicine clinics, which will Immediate Care practice. A portion of a work day is provided for administration and scholarly activities. The expected work week for this position will be flexible with rotating to different Family Medicine clinics, and flexible with rotating Saturdays and some of the weekday hours would be in the evening. - The faculty member may have of a combination of direct patient care with embedded supervision of other learners at any of the OHSU Family Medicine Richmond Clinic. Preference will be given to individuals with greater weekend and evening availability in the clinics. - The faculty member will be available for weekend and holiday coverage for patient care. - The faculty member will be expected to have a strong commitment to developing the family medicine practice into a vibrant, successful clinical and academic operation. - The faculty member will have the opportunity to participate in continuing education, professional and faculty development, and scholarship as directed by the Department of Family Medicine.

- Provide full spectrum family medicine care. - Work collaboratively with full and part time faculty to maintain an active practice. - The Appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. - The faculty member will be expected to have a strong commitment to developing the practice into a vibrant clinical and academic operation, which is successful from both a professional and business point of view. - The faculty member will be expected to participate in continuing education, professional and faculty development and scholarship. Previous work experience in primary care is required. - The Appointee will directly see patients in their clinic eight half days per week and have two half day’s available for administrative duties/scholarship duties. Expectations for number of patients seen per half day will be commensurate with that of other faculty and with minimum target numbers of 8-10 visits per half day depending on complexity of the patient population. - The Appointee will be expected to document using the electronic health record and maintain complete and timely patient care documentation consistent with OHSU and Family Medicine policies and procedures. - Be available for teaching activities including but not limited to resident precepting, student precepting, didactics and more. - By mutual agreement between the Department and the physician, this position may include Inpatient Care (at OHSU and/or HMC) with call duties being shared with the faculty inpatient call group. - The Appointee will be expected to participate in seeing patients during expanded access hours in the clinic, including their share of evenings and weekends, and call coverage. The Appointee will be expected to have a strong commitment to developing the practice into a vibrant clinical and academic operation, which is successful from both a professional and business perspective. - The Appointee will be expected to rotate with all Family Medicine clinics (Richmond, Richmond, Richmond Walk-In, South Waterfront, Scappoose, and Beaverton Clinic(s)) in this Immediate Care role.

Clinical Service/Clinical Education (25%-50%): The primary clinical focus for the person in this position will be the CDRC interdisciplinary Autism clinic. The incumbent will be responsible for evaluation, team collaboration, and family feedback. The person may also participate in follow-up services for CDRC autism patients, for example the Autism Parent Training Program, AAC evaluation/management, behavioral management, etc., depending upon discipline, interest, and expertise. The incumbent will also participate in the clinical education of students, interns, and LEND fellows as it relates to autism, including their participation in the Autism clinic.   Research (20%-45%; dependent on extramural funding): The person in this position will be expected to contribute to research emphasizing Autism and related disorders, both as an independent investigator and with colleagues within and outside the Department of Pediatrics (e.g., Psychiatry, Behavioral Neuroscience, Molecular and Medical Genetics). Further, s/he will be expected to generate grant-funded activities, and to disseminate the products of the research through professional publications and presentations.   Administration (15%): The person in this position will serve as the CDRC Autism Director. As such, s/he is responsible for the overall operation of the clinical program with oversight of all providers for their time and effort assigned to the care team. S/he will collaborate with the CDRC Director of Ambulatory Care, the CDRC Practice Manager, IDDD Discipline Directors, and others to ensure effective and efficient clinical operations consistent with expectations established for the Institute.   Professional/Academic Activities (10%): The person in this position participates in other activities appropriate to the Autism program and to his/her discipline, and consistent with the mission and goals of the IDD and OHSU. Such activities include, but are not limited to, consultation and technical assistance to community agencies and providers, collaborations with other partners, serving on agency and university committees, and participation in departmental meetings and in-service presentations.  

The duties of this position are in support of the missions and objectives of OHSU, the School of Medicine, and the Division of Surgical Oncology.

- The Department Chair and clinical director will work with you to develop your clinical and operative schedule. Your duties will include inpatient, outpatient and surgical service activities for general orthopedic surgical services at Adventist Health Portland, with a specialty focus in your area of interest as agreed with the Department Chair. Call: This position will be expected to take call, as assigned, with other surgeons on nights, weekends, and holidays. - Administration. Administrative and other duties may be assigned based on Department needs and areas of expertise and interest. There will be opportunities to participate in Departmental, Hospital and Clinical management and to serve on institutional committees. - Education. Since OHSU is a teaching facility, there are optional opportunities for teaching medical students, residents, or fellows in the clinical setting. There are also opportunities to participate in the didactic curriculum if desired. Teaching assignments will be given from the Director of Education. - Research. As desired there are opportunities to participate in Departmental Clinical Research trials.

The Point-of-Care Ultrasound Fellow will be responsible for the following: - Precepting or urgent care in the Faculty Practice 4 half days/week, with at least one and likely two evening clinics. - Participate in clinical based teaching. - Potential to attend on the general medicine wards. - On average 3 days per week of ultrasound educational activities and practice in varying clinical settings. - Attend weekly image review & planning sessions with the program faculty. - Create, participate in, or complete at least 1 IRB approved research project. - Contribute to ultrasound teaching events for students and residents.

Clinical Activities (not related to teaching or research): - Plans and supervises student lab and/or clinical experiences or practice based on teaching assignment. Scholarly Activities (research/writing, abstracts, grant supported work, presentations, etc.): - Participates in scholarly activities based on faculty rank. - At the Assistant Professor rank or higher, faculty in the practice mission, demonstrates competence in an area of clinical expertise and engages in inquiry and scholarship that contributes to the practice of clinical practice. - At the Assistant Professor rank or higher, faculty in the research mission advance a program of research, prepares grants and seeks funding, and engages with other missions to foster inquiry within the SON. Education Activities (include types of teaching and types of student taught): - Provides effective didactic instruction based on teaching assignment using appropriate instructional technologies to ensure that course outcomes are met. - Participates collaboratively in the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum. - Mentors and advises students. - Faculty in the doctoral program supervise students in dissertation and/or clinical inquiry projects. Service Activities: - These activities could include faculty meetings, committee membership, professional activities and other responsibilities as assigned by the Program or Academic Director. - Participates in faculty governance; additional engagement based on rank. Administrative Activities: - As negotiated. Other Activities: - The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.
