The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is expected to support and complement physician care of Infectious Diseases patients in a variety of settings, including the outpatient and inpatient realms. The PMC physician performs preoperative risk assessment on pre- surgical patients by obtaining an H&P and ordering appropriate diagnostic studies and laboratory tests. They will collaborate with other members of the team regarding pre-op instructions, medication management, and patient education.   The physician is expected to function independently but also work in close collaboration with providers from other departments (cardiology, anesthesiology, internal medicine, etc.) to coordinate medical optimization of the patient prior to surgery. The Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit treats critically ill patients with neurological injuries. Care in the NSICU follows evidence-based guidelines and clinical pathways developed by the multidisciplinary team. The APP faculty is expected to work a fair share of weekday, night and weekend shifts. If desired, the APP faculty may choose a night shift-only assignment after an appropriate orientation period. Clinical Responsibilities: - Assessment and treatment of patients in the NSICU under the direction of critical care trained physician faculty, including performance of basic ICU procedures including arterial and central line placement and lumbar puncture. - Rounding on patients in the NSICU with physician faculty, fellows and residents and developing and implementing clinical plans of care. - Consultation with specialty care providers when appropriate. - Communication with patients and families about medical conditions, treatment plans, and progress. - Working with hospital and unit staff to develop and implement discharge plans for patients in the ICU, and promote patient health through education and counseling. - Timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record. - Collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary and interprofessional care team to ensure optimal patient care and continuously improve quality of care. - Adherence to best practice protocols and policies - Delivery of care compliant with the regulations and guidelines by the relevant regulatory bodies. - Treating all patients and co-workers with dignity and respect in alignment with the OHSU Code of Conduct. - Supporting a safe and welcoming environment where all can contribute and prosper. Clinical Service/Clinical Education (25%-50%): The primary clinical focus for the person in this position will be the CDRC interdisciplinary Autism clinic. The incumbent will be responsible for evaluation, team collaboration, and family feedback. The person may also participate in follow-up services for CDRC autism patients, for example the Autism Parent Training Program, AAC evaluation/management, behavioral management, etc., depending upon discipline, interest, and expertise. The incumbent will also participate in the clinical education of students, interns, and LEND fellows as it relates to autism, including their participation in the Autism clinic.   Research (20%-45%; dependent on extramural funding): The person in this position will be expected to contribute to research emphasizing Autism and related disorders, both as an independent investigator and with colleagues within and outside the Department of Pediatrics (e.g., Psychiatry, Behavioral Neuroscience, Molecular and Medical Genetics). Further, s/he will be expected to generate grant-funded activities, and to disseminate the products of the research through professional publications and presentations.   Administration (15%): The person in this position will serve as the CDRC Autism Director. As such, s/he is responsible for the overall operation of the clinical program with oversight of all providers for their time and effort assigned to the care team. S/he will collaborate with the CDRC Director of Ambulatory Care, the CDRC Practice Manager, IDDD Discipline Directors, and others to ensure effective and efficient clinical operations consistent with expectations established for the Institute.   Professional/Academic Activities (10%): The person in this position participates in other activities appropriate to the Autism program and to his/her discipline, and consistent with the mission and goals of the IDD and OHSU. Such activities include, but are not limited to, consultation and technical assistance to community agencies and providers, collaborations with other partners, serving on agency and university committees, and participation in departmental meetings and in-service presentations.
