Provide patient care in the outpatient area for pre-operative and post-operative care and chronic follow up as determined by the attending physicians. This includes, but is not limited to: developing patient care plans with the Orthopaedic Upper Extremity surgeons, physicians, and residents to ensure continuity of care and enhance quality of Orthopaedic outpatient care; acting as a resource for application of casts as needed to ensure excellent patient care and ensure smooth patient flow during outpatient clinic sessions; managing health care & wound care during acute and chronic phases of Orthopaedic care; preoperative evaluations; coordination of ancillary services, such as radiology; promoting and maintaining health through the use of ancillary services, educational materials, and counseling of patients and families; providing same day response to medical advice/prescription phone requests and coordinating patient services with Orthopaedic outpatient staff and other departmental Physician Assistants; promoting a safe environment for patients and adhering to policies regarding patient care and confidentiality to support the mission and goals of OHSU; recognizing emergency or urgent situations and acting immediately and effectively to provide emergency resuscitation and/or treatment; acting as a resource for patient education materials for patients and families; consulting with the Chairman or other faculty to provide up-to-date injury-specific health care information to outpatients; providing high quality customer service to both external and internal customers (patients, referring providers, insurance carriers, internal providers, and other OHSU faculty and staff) that meets or exceeds the service standards for the health care industry. This duty includes prompt and professional communication efforts, face-to-face customer contact skills, crisis management, use of available information technology, standard complaint processing, flexibility in coverage of internal service needs, and continuous application of process improvement methods and skills.   Provides inpatient care and follow-up of assigned patients from OR to admission and through discharge. Includes, but is not limited to: surgical assist in the OR as needed; developing and implementing, in conjunction with faculty physicians, clinical plans of care and/or protocols for Orthopaedic inpatients with common conditions/diagnoses/procedures; Participation in orthopedic immediate care clinics as needed; providing clinical care through digital telehealth visits; educating the house staff and nursing unit staff on these protocols, with the goal of enhancing quality of care, enhancing quality of patient service, and decreasing length of inpatient stay; participating with hospital/unit staff in evaluating results of these protocols and continually improving effectiveness of same; working actively with hospital and unit staff to rapidly develop and implement discharge plans for Orthopaedic inpatients and to address length of stay issues; promoting and maintaining health of Orthopaedic inpatients through the use of ancillary services, educational materials, and counseling of patients and families; providing resident and intern training/education in casting techniques and in utilization of plans of care to improve patient services and outcomes of treatment; providing and/or participating in clinical in-service training and staff educational programs for the inpatient Orthopaedic service; following all customer service standards as outlined above. The successful candidate must have demonstrated ability to work with a team of health care providers and collaborate to achieve clinical care goals.  Our practice also includes innovative models for delivering structured care to populations of patients with chronic conditions. Candidates with an interest in and experience with chronic care models of health care, coordination of care of complex patients in various settings, and continuous practice improvement will receive priority consideration. Our practice is recognized by the State of Oregon as a Tier 4 Patient Centered Primary Care Home and a Comprehensive Primary Care Plus clinic site.    This position will include continuity ambulatory practice and potentially interim care for the practice. Clinical care duties will be the equivalent of 7 half days per week.  Evening clinic hours will be expected at a 1-2 days a week.  Communication skills and the ability to collaborate with other clinicians in our practice is essential. Inpatient work will be assigned as available at OHSU or its partner institutions.   Faculty in the Division of General Internal Medicine & Geriatrics participate actively in teaching medical students, residents, fellows, and each other. Schedule: 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, weekdays, weekend, and holidays included.   Outpatient Genitourinary (GU) APP: The GU APP manages patient care for genitourinary cancers which include the following: Prostate, renal cell carcinoma, bladder, testicular, and penile cancers. Treatments for these various cancer types have a broad range including hormonal therapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, oral targeted therapies, and radio pharmaceuticals. The APP is also responsible for managing side effects from treatments and seeing patients on clinical trials. This APP will also attend research meetings to discuss trials and clinical trial patient related issues. Additionally, this APP may intermittently provide oversight of the infusion unit, responding to acute infusion reactions and urgent medical issues.   Schedule: Four 10-hour days per week. Schedule to be determined upon hiring.     Outpatient APP with focus in gastrointestinal (GI) oncology :  We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Advanced Practice Provider to join our GI Oncology team. This vital role involves providing specialized healthcare to patients with gastrointestinal cancers and collaborating closely with a team of oncologists and other medical professionals. This is an outpatient position in a clinic on the South Waterfront of OHSU campus. The position would be for clinic coverage 4 days per week (schedule to be decided depending on clinic need at time of hire) with 10% of time devoted to involvement in clinical research. This is part of a growing clinic that involves multiple GI oncologists and two other advanced practice providers.   Key Responsibilities: - Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including medical histories and physical examinations - Develop and implement patient-centric treatment plans under oncologist supervision - Educate patients and families about treatments and care strategies - Coordinate patient care across various services - Manage follow-up care and monitor therapy side effects - Participate in team discussions about patient treatment options - Stay updated with the latest GI oncology advancements - Triaging and managing patient’s symptom or care coordination questions by phone or MyChart message - See maximum 12 patients per day, generally 30 minute visits Prior experience in oncology or gastroenterology is preferred.    Outpatient APP with focus in BMT:    *If  interested in this BMT APP position, please visit Req 2023-26436 for more information and to apply.*   The OHSU Blood & Marrow Transplant (BMT) Program is a large program experiencing significant growth and is pursuing the recruitment of APPs with a record of providing high quality clinical care. The Institute on Development and Disability (IDD) within the Department of Pediatrics of Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) is seeking an Associate to Full Professor with exceptional leadership skills to serve as the Discipline Director of Developmental Pediatrics. The Discipline Director will direct the clinical, research, and educational missions of Developmental Pediatrics within the IDD.  The ideal candidate will have outstanding clinical experience and administrative skills, along with recognized scholarly accomplishments. Applicants should be committed to clinical and academic excellence, teamwork, and mentorship of faculty, trainees, and students.   The appointee shall provide services in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. Services provided include individual assessments and participation on interdisciplinary teams for the evaluation and management of children and adolescents with global developmental delays, intellectual disability, ADHD/learning problems, cerebral palsy, and autism in selected Portland CDRC clinics and selected outreach sites; participation in interdisciplinary training at CDRC; service on various Institute on Development and Disability (IDD)/CDRC and OHSU committees as appropriate and assigned; engagement in public service through consultative activities with non-OHSU groups as approved by the Director; and conduct of clinical projects or research in selected areas of interest.    The duties may vary and are determined by the IDD Director and the Director of Clinical Services to meet objectives agreed upon by the Director of IDD.  This position requires undivided effort at the specified FTE.

Located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital is offering an opportunity for a Palliative Care specialist at one of the nation’s top ranked Children’s Hospitals as reported by U.S. News & World Report.    The Division of Pediatric Palliative Care seeks a faculty member at the assistant professor level to fill one of the following roles:  1) physician to provide pediatric palliative care at a total a total of 0.5 FTE, or 2) a physician to provide 0.5 FTE of pediatric palliative care plus 0.1 to 0.5 FTE of other clinical care in general pediatrics or the successful candidate’s field of specialty. The duties of this position include: providing pediatric palliative care for infant, child, and adolescent patients and their families at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, in both inpatient and outpatient contexts; participation in a broad range pediatric palliative care educational and clinical programming outside of direct patient care; education of learners at all levels and disciplines.   This can either be a half-time position limited to pediatric palliative care, or an up to full-time position with the other 0.1-0.5 FTE coming from General Pediatrics or a relevant pediatric subspecialty in which the candidate is board eligible.    This faculty member will provide direct patient care and consultations with physicians at other regional medical centers. Pediatric faculty members at OHSU also provide clinical teaching and supervision of pediatric residents, medical students, and other trainees. This position will educate both in the clinical environment and through conferences, seminars, and interdepartmental activities. There also are many opportunities for scholarly activity and research. Candidates with a strong interest in academic pursuits are encouraged to apply.   The Bridges Pediatric Palliative Care team is a long-standing and well-integrated component of the outstanding clinical care provided at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Composed of four physicians (at varying levels of effort), a nurse practitioner, a nurse coordinator, social worker, chaplain, and art therapist, the Bridges team is the only interprofessional pediatric palliative care team in the state of Oregon. As such, in addition to a robust inpatient presence, we either manage or co-manage a high percentage of pediatric hospice patients throughout the state, partnering with local hospice agencies to empower them to care for children as well as adults. We are active throughout the hospital as well as for outpatients receiving palliative care, including core integration into the fetal therapy program (which now includes fetal surgery).   In terms of education and training, our pediatric palliative care fellow is part of an interprofessional fellowship program along with two adult palliative care physician fellows, as well as fellows in social work, spiritual care, and psychology. We are also fortunate to have every pediatric intern rotate with us, as well as fellows from pediatric oncology, PICU, NICU, and adult palliative care, as well as nurse practitioner and social work fellows.
