The Assistant Dean for Simulation and Academic Technology reports to and advises the Sr. Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, leading on statewide strategy, innovation, research, and evaluation for graduate and undergraduate simulation and academic technology in support of pedagogy, including distance learning. The position provides oversight for the Portland campus simulation based learning and skills lab and statewide oversight for faculty and staff development in meeting national standards and in the use of simulation and technology, advancing innovative learning centered pedagogies throughout the various curricula.
The Assistant Dean for Simulation and Academic Technology represents the SON on the OHSU Simulation Steering Committee and promotes simulation and skills lab innovation on all campuses. The Assistant Dean provides administrative oversight for all statewide simulation and technology initiatives.

Licensed in professional nursing (if not in the State of Oregon, must be able to obtain prior to start)
Earned or in progress doctorate in nursing or related field with five years of progressive experience in higher education; eligible for rank at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level
Demonstrated experience in leading change in academic settings
Demonstrated experience in simulation and academic technology applications to nursing education in a variety of programs/levels
Demonstrated experience in setting performance standards, developing metrics, and in program evaluation
Ability to inspire change, equal ability to be visible and comfortable in urban, rural, and frontier communities and across the care continuum.
Ability to balance academic decorum with approachability and accessibility for faculty, student, academic, and community stakeholders.
Certificated as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE)
