Function/Duties of Position

The Nurse-Midwifery program seeks clinical faculty midwives who are committed to providing evidence-based, patient-centered reproductive healthcare. Nurse-Midwives in our faculty practice provide full-scope reproductive care in the inpatient and ambulatory settings. In addition, Clinical Nurse-Midwifery faculty participate in student clinical experiences, student mentoring, and simulation/skills events, in close collaboration with the Nurse-Midwifery academic program faculty.

 

Clinical Activities: Triage nurse-midwives work closely with the other obstetric teams (primarily Generalist OB (OB) and Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) teams, and Family Medicine (FM) and Marquam Hill Nurse-Midwives (CNM) teams as needed), to provide comprehensive, timely and efficient assessment and care. The Triage Nurse-Midwife will independently assess and evaluate patients and will manage and discharge patients either independently or in collaboration with the OB teams. Patient care includes those individuals presenting for common pregnancy-related, postpartum-related, and primary care concerns, including patients of all gestational weeks. The Triage Nurse-Midwife also participates in creating, maintaining, and updating guidelines, policies, and procedures for the Triage Unit.

 

Educational Activities: Provides effective clinical instruction as requested.

 

Service Activities: As assigned by the Practice Manager

 

Scholarly Activities: Not required

 

Administrative Activites: As assigned by the Practice Manager

 

Other Activities: As assigned by the Practice Manager

Required Qualifications

Education (Degree dependent on academic program type and rank of position.):

  • Instructor: MSN or equivalent
  • Assistant Professor: PhD/DNP or equivalent

 

Registrations, Certifications and/or Licenses (Current licensure & certifications could be required depending on position and academic program.):

  • Oregon RN license
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Other: ACNM/ACC/AMCB certification required, NRP required; ACLS preferred

Experience (Experience dependent on academic program type and rank of position.):

  • 2 years of clinical practice experience required;
  • Teaching experience at the preceptor level is preferred.
  • 3rd trimester ultrasound and First-Assist skills required
