Department Overview

The Department of Radiation Medicine is dedicated to establishing four pillars: Patient Care, Service, Research, and Education. Radiation therapy has long been a cornerstone of cancer care. We take pride in educating every patient about the various radiation treatments for cancer and what they can expect during their treatment. Within Radiation Medicine, the commitment of our healthcare providers, researchers, educators, and learners enables us to deliver the greatest compassion and the most comprehensive medical care to our patients.

 

The position will encompass various weighted responsibilities across clinical, academic, research, and administrative FTE, totaling 1.0 FTE in accordance with the SoM Compensation Plan. The roles, weighting, and responsibilities will be determined by the Department Chair's discretion.

Function/Duties of Position

This position is under the supervision of the Chair of the Department of Radiation Medicine and aligns with the missions, goals, and objectives of the School of Medicine. The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the Chair or Vice-Chair in furtherance of OHSU’s missions of Healing, Teaching, and Discovery.

  • Practicing medicine as an employee of OHSU at OHSU Hospitals and Clinics (collectively, “Hospital” and, except as otherwise provided in this paragraph 7 of the “Clinician Employment Agreement,” not otherwise), OHSU-affiliates, the Portland VA Medical Center, and community sites
    • Maintaining licensure to practice medicine in the state of Oregon and any other jurisdiction where licensure is necessary in order for a Clinician to perform the professional services contemplated hereunder and to maintain medical staff privileges at the Hospital
    • Participating in site-specific tumor boards and multidisciplinary clinics
    • Contributing to departmental quality meetings, i.e. chart rounds, M&M, and others
  • Educating medical students, residents, medical technologists, and physicists in accordance with the educational mission of the department
  • Working towards making significant contributions to the science and understanding of radiation oncology and biology.
  • Serving the Department, OHSU, and our specialty through committees, councils, and leadership
  • Demonstrating a commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
  • Mentoring students, residents and colleagues

Required Qualifications

  • Maintaining certification or eligibility by the American Board of Radiology in Radiation Oncology is one of the prerequisites for extension of this appointment beyond one year.
  • MD
  • Maintain an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Oregon
  • Maintain credentialing requirements at OHSU
