Function/Duties of Position

The Department of Psychiatry at the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) has an outstanding opportunity for a licensed clinical psychologist (PhD, PsyD) to advance their career by serving as both the Educational Site Director for the Clinical Psychology Program (CPP) and as the Clinical Psychologist within the new Ambulatory Bridge Clinic at the Unity Center for Behavioral Health (UCBH). The Ambulatory Bridge Clinic provides rapid access to care for patients recently discharged from the Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) and/or Inpatient (IP) units at UCBH. Then goal is to address gaps in outpatient follow-up, aiming to reduce recidivism, maintain treatment adherence, support recovery, and connect patients with longer-term psychiatric care.

 

The Acute Care Psychologist will provide clinical services within the Ambulatory Bridge Clinic as directed by the UCBH Ambulatory /IP Medical Director(s) in collaboration with the Director of OHSU’s Clinical Psychology  Program (CPP), furthering the university’s mission of excellence in teaching, research, clinical care, outreach, and public service. This role offers a dynamic opportunity to treat patients, supervise learners, and develop an educational program focused on acute care management.

 

Function/Duties of the position:

Clinical Care:

  • Provide direct clinical care for patients within the PES, IP, and the new Ambulatory Bridge Clinic, focusing on the assessment and reduction of suicide risk through evidenced-based risk assessment tools, development of complex treatment plans, provision of brief psychotherapeutic support, and post-hospital care transition.
  • Collaborate with PES and IP services for post-hospital follow-up.
  • Participate in therapeutic programming to expand and diversify modalities of treatment.
  • Other duties as delegated by the Ambulatory/IP Medical Director(s).

 

Site Director of Psychotherapy Training at UCBH:

  • OHSU has one of the few clinical psychology doctoral programs in the nation housed entirely within an academic medical center and is invested in expanding psychology training within this new setting.
  • This new role will focus on creating and implementing the clinical training program, providing specialized mentorship and supervision to psychology and psychiatry learners working with high-acuity population.
  • Other duties as delegated by the Director of CPP

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PhD or PsyD) in Oregon.
  • Experience supervising and training psychology students/residents.
  • Experience in ambulatory and/or inpatient care with high-acuity populations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Program development and leadership experience in high-acuity settings.
  • Experience in program outcome measurement.
  • Success working in inter- and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience supervising psychotherapy across disciplines, particularly in high-acuity settings.
