Department Overview

The Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is recruiting for a Clinical Associate.

Function/Duties of Position

The duties of this position include: provide clinical care to patients primarily in our regional medical partner program in Salem, Oregon.  This position could also be asked to provide clinical care to patients of the University Hospital and Clinics, and affiliated hospitals and clinics; establish and maintain a program of scholarly research activity directed toward improved understanding of the causes, detection, and treatment of diseases; teach medical students, house staff and the regional medical community; engage in public service through consultative activities with non-university groups as approved by the Department Chair; participate in the administration of the School of Medicine as appointed by the Committee on Committees and approved by the Dean.

 

Specific duties:

  • Primary responsibility includes staffing outreach clinics at local and regional sites. Primary location will be Salem, Oregon.
  • Responsibility for outpatient and inpatient consultative Maternal-Fetal Medicine services, to include faculty staffing assignments and the ongoing management of a faculty based Maternal-Fetal Medicine practice.
  • Providing consultative staffing for Maternal-Fetal Medicine services, including inpatient consultation and outpatient ultrasound, consultation, genetic counseling and diagnostic procedures. This is an outpatient consult position without call responsibilities.
  • Serve as a liaison between Salem Hospital and OHSU MFM including but not limited to development and distribution of outpatient clinical guidelines/pathways, oversight of complex patients and the ultrasound program, scheduling efficiencies, quality assessment and improvements, and partnership with OHSU MFM division and hospital-based obstetricians in patient care, including patient transfer to OHSU when appropriate.
  • Responsibility for development with other members of the Division of the maternal-fetal medicine division component of the preclinical, clinical, postgraduate (CME and resident) and allied health educational programs if needed.
  • Fostering of research activities with other faculty members in the division.
  • Support in assuming a sound Maternal-Fetal Medicine division budget with the Division chief, participation in departmental management and acceptance of institutional committee assignments as appropriate.

Required Qualifications

  • MD degree
  • Oregon licensure, and
  • Completion of maternal-fetal medicine fellowship.
  • Candidate Applicants must have the potential for academic accomplishment.
  • Be board-certified or board-eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and in Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
  • Obtain medical privileges at our regional medical partner program in Salem, Oregon and OHSU.
