The Department of Urology at OHSU is committed to providing the highest quality, state-of-the-art care for adult and pediatric urology patients. Function/Duties of Position

Clinical: The clinical duties of this position will primarily focus on stone disease and endourology, encompassing comprehensive management of kidney stones, minimally invasive surgical procedures, and advanced endoscopic techniques. There may also be opportunities to manage general urology patients. Clinical responsibilities may include providing care at the Portland VA Medical Center on a weekly basis, in addition to OHSU locations. The Department of Urology expects an outstanding level of professional performance, particularly in the quality of clinical care provided. The clinician will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care and maintaining the highest standards of medical practice. Incumbent must perform professional activities in compliance with regulations and guidelines set forth by all relevant regulatory bodies, including the DNV, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, OHSU IRB, NIH, and other applicable state, federal, and institutional regulatory guidelines. High expectation for the clinician to treat all patients, research subjects, trainees, and co-workers with the utmost dignity and respect, fostering a collaborative and respectful work environment.

 

Academics: May teach support staff in their area of professional expertise. Clinical Associate performs teaching through assigned lectures during the year and through teaching while performing their own job by modeling best practices, mentoring trainees, guiding learning through delegating graduated and focused levels of responsibility. Takes a leadership role in education, through the residency or graduate student selection process, evaluation committee, or education/curriculum committee. Must have a satisfactory record of accomplishment in teaching and be knowledgeable of and compliant with all applicable regulating bodies (e.g., ACGME competencies for clinical faculty, NIH guidelines for research faculty).

 

Research: May maintain a program of scholarly research activity directed toward improved understanding for the causes, detection, and treatment of diseases related to stone / endourology conditions and/or other Urology subspecialties. May engage in public service through consultative activities with OHSU and non-University groups as approved by the Chair. Must have satisfactory record of accomplishments in scholarship and service.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctorate in medicine (MD); board certified/board-eligible Urologist; completion of Stone / Endourology fellowship training; satisfactory record of accomplishment in ALL the following categories: teaching, scholarship, and service.

  • Current license and certification with the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners, Drug Enforcement Association certification, and CPR/PALS certification required.
