In support of the PA program’s Curricular Activities:
Curriculum Development and Student Assessment:
- Overseeing the assessment and academic progress of clinical year students, including the scheduling and administration of exams, interpretation of results, and assigning grades for clinical rotations.
- Collaborating in curriculum development, encompassing clinical rotations, internships, and other experiential learning components.
- Developing assessment tools and evaluation criteria, along with remediation processes for students.
- Providing student instruction in the didactic phase and participating in various program and institutional committees related to curriculum and academic progress.
- Serve as an advisor to first- and second-year students
Clinical and Experiential Learning Management:
- Identifying, establishing, and maintaining relationships with clinical sites and preceptors.
- Overseeing the recruitment, training, and supervision of preceptors.
- Managing student placement at clinical sites and ensuring alignment with their learning needs, interests, and career goals.
- Conducting orientation and training sessions for students.
- Continuously assessing and improving the quality of experiential learning experiences.
Regulatory Compliance, Quality Improvement, and Problem Solving:
- Ensuring program compliance with accreditation requirements, licensing regulations, and legal standards.
- Addressing issues or challenges during clinical rotations, including conflicts and safety-related matters.
- Engaging in quality improvement initiatives, including program self-assessment, analysis, accreditation processes, and policy development.
- Collecting and analyzing data to inform decision-making and improve program outcomes.
As a member of the faculty of the PA Program:
Networking, Advocacy, and Support Services:
- Building and maintaining relationships with healthcare providers, organizations, and professional associations.
- Advocating for the importance of experiential learning and its role in clinical practice.
- Providing guidance and support to students, addressing their educational needs.
- Staying current with trends in healthcare education and incorporating best practices.
- Participating in the admissions process and providing academic advising to students.
- Participate on program and university committees as assigned by the Program Director, Represent the PA program through service on committees at the institutional level as required.
- Represent the PA Program within the OHSU community and statewide medical community
- Participate in national, regional and state PA professional organizations
- Support other PA faculty in responsibilities as assigned by the program director
