Department Overview

The Knight Cardiovascular Institute (KCVI) is recognized as a top integrated center for cardiovascular clinical care, translational research and professional training in all aspects of heart and vascular disease. Guided by a multi-disciplinary approach, researchers and clinicians drive a vibrant translational research program, which focuses on delivering the latest knowledge and cutting edge care to patients. Specifically, research at KCVI seeks to improve patient outcomes by achieving earlier diagnosis of disease, more accurate monitoring of its progression, and tailoring therapy to the molecular basis of disease.

Function/Duties of Position

Clinical: This position serves as a General Cardiologist within the Division of Cardiology at OHSU. Clinical duties primarily involve medical management of patients with chronic or acute heart disease in ambulatory and inpatient settings, with primary responsibilities in the ambulatory clinic where you would be part of a large collaborative group including physicians, APPs, and an excellent support team. Inpatient time would be approximately 8 weeks per year of inpatient service, with most call limited to those weeks. Your role would also involve participation in cardiovascular imaging, primarily focused on echocardiography and nuclear cardiology, teaching of medical students, residents, fellows, supervision of and collaboration with APPs, and participation in scholarly activity. 

 

Education: OHSU is a teaching institution and as a faculty member, you are expected to provide mentorship and direction to students, residents, fellows and staff. The Graduate Program Director will provide any official assignments.

 

Research: There may be options for you to explore research opportunities in your area of focus. Administrative support is available for grant submission, financial management and clinical trials support. Please share your research interests during the interview process.

 

Administration: Administrative duties may be assigned to you in support of Institute or section initiatives, faculty development and/or other activities as determined necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be licensed MD/DO

  • Active DEA Certification

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiology

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience practicing in an academic health facility is preferred
