SON faculty members who have advanced practice specialization (nurse practitioner, nurse-midwife, clinical nurse specialist or nurse anesthetist) may function in all of the missions of the School.  Scholarly teaching is an expectation for all.  The faculty member must be nationally certified and state licensed. If practice is a part of the FTE assignment, the faculty member must also be credentialed and privileged as a member of the OHSU Professional Staff in accordance with the specialty bylaws.  The faculty member will provide services as determined by the Associate Dean for Practice Graduate and Clinical Programs in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.  The advanced practice faculty member is expected to comply with scope of practice, other laws, regulations, OHSU and SON policy, and other applicable professional standards of practice.

OHSU’s School of Nursing, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) Program is a dual track DNP, which prepares students to be certified as both primary care (PC) and acute care (AC).

The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) Program is designed to prepare advanced practice registered nurses to deliver primary and acute care to children (birth to 21 years of age) across practice settings and institutional boundaries. The overall objective of the DNP-PNP Program is to provide the foundation and scaffolding for students to become competent and caring pediatric nurse practitioners, scholars, and leaders.

Our pass rate is 100 % in both primary and acute care certification, and our graduates are practicing in primary care and different specialties within Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.  OHSU’s School of Nursing, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) Program is ranked #12 nation-wide, amongst the best nursing graduate schools by U.S. News & World Report.

1. Clinical Activities: Practice that emanates from the School of Nursing is expected to support the teaching and research missions of the School.  In the practice environment, teaching occurs concurrently with clinical activities.   This position may include clinical practice as negotiated.
2. Scholarly Activities: Scholarship in teaching and practice is expected for all APN faculty.  There activities may include development of evidence-based guidelines, evaluation of clinical programs and/or clinical activities, development of support of clinical research and data collection for quality initiative.  This position may include research activities as negotiated.
3. Education Activities:  Teaching graduate nursing students in the Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program.  This includes teaching and leadership in program and curriculum development and advising and mentoring of students.
4. Service Activities:  These activities include faculty meetings, committee membership, professional activities and other responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director. 
5. Administrative Activities:  None.
6. Other Activities:  The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.

Education: Doctorate degree: PhD or DNP.
Registrations, Certifications and/or Licenses:  Oregon RN license, Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner primary care/acute care or both. Current CPR card required.
Experience:  Minimum of three years of clinical practice experience in the Acute Care PNP role required; Teaching experience, especially at the APN level, preferred.
