Department Overview

This is a full-time faculty position for an appointment in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Department of Internal Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU).

 

The duties of this position include: providing patient care in Hepatology clinic/clinic equivalent in the areas of general GI, and endoscopy; attending between 8 and 10 weeks each year on the Hepatology consult service; sharing night/weekend call responsibilities with other GI faculty members; and teaching medical students, residents, and GI fellows during the course of the year.

Function/Duties of Position

Clinical Responsibilities:

7 half days of clinic/clinic equivalents during non-attending weeks.  The outpatient responsibilities will be at the discretion of the Division Head and can be changed based on divisional needs.  The following plan is proposed for 2022-2023

  • Five -half days of Hepatology Clinic (1-2 Transplant Clinic, 3-4 General Hepatology)
  • Two- half days of outpatient endoscopy      

Attending Responsibilities:

  • 8 to 12 weeks per year in rotation with other faculty. During attending rotations you will be expected to supervise GI fellows, complete all inpatient Hepatology consultations, and perform endoscopic procedures on inpatients and complex outpatients at the hospital endoscopy unit or ICU.  During the attending rotation, you will not have other afternoon outpatient obligations and will receive full credit for these afternoon outpatient clinics. Limited nursing support will be provided for all outpatient activities.

Scholarly Responsibilities:

  • Teaching of medical students, residents, GI fellows during the course of the year.

Administration Responsibilities:

  • You will have no administrative duties at this time.

Required Qualifications

  • Individual must be board certified in Gastroenterology and board eligible or certified in Transplant Hepatology and hold a valid Oregon medical license.
  • Must have completed a course of advanced training in Transplant Hepatology.
