Clinical:
- 3.5 days of clinic/clinic equivalents during non-service weeks. The outpatient responsibilities will be at the discretion of the Division Head and could be changed based on divisional needs. The following plan is proposed for 2023-2024.
- 3 days per week at Legacy Health of interventional endoscopy procedures.
- ½ day per week of ambulatory clinic.

- 8-9 weeks of interventional service in rotation with NW Gastro specialist at Legacy Health.

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for the Department of Neurological Surgery possesses specialized knowledge and skills in the care of adult patients with neurological disorders. Overall responsibilities include inpatient and outpatient care and clinical support operations for the Department of Neurological Surgery. Works in partnership with faculty physicians to provide excellent clinical care and customer services in furthering OHSU mission of excellence in education, research and scholarship, clinical practice and community service. This position will primarily serve neurosurgery patients at the OHSU Health Hillsboro Hospital site (formerly Tuality Healthcare).
Works in partnership with faculty APPs and physicians to provide excellent clinical care and customer services in furthering OHSU mission of excellence in education, research and scholarship, clinical practice and community service. Provides clinical modeling and education to departmental staff, house staff, and nursing staff.
Inpatient duties:
In the operative and inpatient setting, patient care duties include: Assists with neurosurgical procedures, including craniotomies, spinal procedures (including instrumentations) and microscopic procedures. Conducts hospital rounds daily on all patients, including intensive care units. Writes orders and progress notes. Performs all admission history and physicals and inpatient consultations. Orders appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests, such as MRIs, CT scans, myelograms, bone scans and other radiographic studies.
Outpatient duties:
In the outpatient setting, patient care duties include evaluation of both new patients and follow-ups and the completion of pre-operative assessments; triaging calls, prescription refill management, and care coordination.
This position is primarily Monday to Friday, with scheduled on-call shifts and weekend coverage from home or in the hospital.
Program Coordination and Monitoring:
- Plans, coordinates, and implements of Social Determinants of Health (SDH) initiatives aimed at addressing high volume needs of FQHC patients and families. Collaborates with clinic staff and community members to develop and ensure activities support the FQHC mission, goals and objectives. Facilitates community partnerships that support addressing SDHs and maintains communication and collaboration internally and externally. Leads the integration of universal/routine Social Determinants of Health screening including developing materials, leading trainings, data tracking, and reporting data for quality improvement metrics.
- Identifies long-range objectives, short-term operational goals and develops operating plans based on in-depth knowledge of social needs, creates program workflows and polices, navigates partnerships, and facilitates workgroups and standing committees. Exercises judgment in making independent decisions regarding program coordination. Assists in budget development and expense tracking related to programming and preparing grants related to SDH interventions.
- Supports systems to ensure that Cultural Competency and Health Literacy Standards are in place and inform clinic policies and procedures. Works closely with department communication staff to ensure that marketing and outreach materials and on-line resources and information are health literate and target SDH. Manages specialty programs at the health center that affect social needs and brings an equity lens to projects and programs.
Patient and Community Engagement Coordination:
- Assist in coordination and documentation of Patient Advisory Council and community engagement councils to solicit input on program development, problem solving and empowering patient/community participation. Increasing clinic’s capacity to enhance relationships and develop partnerships with existing community resources/agencies. Participates and provides coordinative support to clinic’s health equity aims in collaboration with Health Equity Organizer, as needed.
Agency Representation:
- Represents the health center in various community partnerships including designing, developing, leading and presenting on programs in which the clinics collaborates with OHSU and community. Pursues innovative partnerships with community-based agencies and funders/grantors. Seeks out and participates in learning collaboratives that will enhance equity, address social needs and enhance patient outcomes; serves as project lead for collaborative work. Represents the health center in a variety of other settings such as presentations, conferences, and networking events.

As an OHSU faculty member is expected to participate in faculty meetings at the division and department level. All pediatric faculty members are expected to aid the division head and department chair in providing direction to the division and the department both on a day to day basis and as part of ongoing strategic planning and strategic planning.

OHSU faculty members are expected to have some scholarly activity, this may be limited to educating learners as outlined below, but may also include research, and other grant supported work or academic papers and presentations in disciplines related to their field of expertise. Faculty members are often called upon to partner with other providers and members of the department or division research support staff in research activity. Faculty members are expected to participate in clinical research as needed, often with the help of trained research support staff and senior faculty principal investigators.

This position provides clinical education to fellows, residents, and medical students participating in pediatric rotations. As part of the multidisciplinary team charged with educating learners in the neonatology environment, this person would be expected to provide feedback and evaluation, both formally and informally, of learners working in neonatology. Specifically, faculty members in neonatology are key educators to fellows enrolled in the neonatology fellowship program. This faculty member will provide education and feedback to fellowship trainees in the Neonatology Fellowship Program. This person would also be expected to provide feedback and guidance in the continuing development and improvement of the Neonatology Fellowship program.
Other Activities:
Faculty members may be called upon to serve on OHSU committees and in other activities as directed by the department chair or division head in furtherance of division, department, or OHSU goals and objectives.
The appointee will be expected to plan, develop, organize, and direct a fully funded and independent research program that incorporates the use of non-human primate models. Incumbents are expected to independently and effectively direct a research laboratory, seek opportunities for internal and external collaborative research studies, supervise research staff and trainees, publish regularly in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and present/participate in national or international meetings. Body Imaging Clinical responsibilities will include CT of the chest, abdomen and pelvis (including advanced applications such as three-dimensional imaging, CT urography, CTA and CT enterography), MRI of the abdomen and pelvis (including liver, biliary, prostate, gynecologic and genitourinary applications), general body ultrasound (including abdominal, pelvic, early pregnancy, and neck studies) image-guided needle biopsies and aspirations, GI and GU fluoroscopic examinations, and attendance at interdisciplinary tumor boards.
As the only academic medical center in the state of Oregon, OHSU provides a full spectrum of care to a large and diverse population, including an active transplant program, a level 1 trauma program, and the Knight Cancer Institute. Accordingly, the department has state of the art imaging equipment and sees patients with a wide mix of complexity and pathology. Academic activities within the section are centered on the promotion of excellence in the evidence-based application, performance, and interpretation of Body Imaging. The campus offers excellent opportunities for multidisciplinary research, with a history of innovative and collaborative studies. OHSU is home to numerous specialized research centers and institutes, including one of the first Clinical and Translational Sciences Award-funded programs in the country (the Oregon Clinical and Translational Research Institute), the Advanced Imaging Research Center (dedicated to improving medical imaging), the Knight Cancer Institute, and the Dotter Interventional Institute. The Knight Cancer Institute is the only NCI-designated Cancer Center in Oregon. Educational responsibilities will include teaching at all levels commensurate with a large academic center, including medical student, resident, fellow and postgraduate training.
All private care activities shall be conducted through the institute faculty private practice plan. This position requires undivided effort at the specific FTE. The general pattern of working hours will be set by the Director of the Dotter Institute, but deviations from general patterns may be necessary to meet position responsibilities. On average there will be 3 procedural days, 1 outpatient clinic day, and 1 academic day. Duration of this appointment and indicated salary may be changed or eliminate if a gift, grant, or contract fund supporting this position becomes unavailable. The Division of Metabolic Health & Disease at the Oregon National Primate Research Center (ONPRC) and Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) is inviting applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor position to strengthen the Division’s research program in the areas of metabolism, physiology and endocrinology. Successful candidates would join a premier translational research facility focused on nonhuman primate models of human disease. ONPRC research is carried out in the laboratories of 46 principal investigators in the areas of metabolism, neuroscience, reproduction, genetics, and infectious disease using a colony of more than 4,700 nonhuman primates. Competitive applicants will have an established research program in the general area of metabolic disease (obesity, type 2 diabetes, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, cardiometabolic disease), endocrinology and metabolism, pancreatic and/or islet biology or central regulation of body weight or glucose homeostasis.
We seek an outstanding scientist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in a relevant discipline with demonstrated ability to obtain independent research funding and a track record of impactful publications. The successful candidate will have or develop an independent research program in metabolic research, as well as demonstrate the desire to collaborate with investigators in the highly diverse research environment of ONPRC. While current or previous nonhuman primate research experience is beneficial, all candidates with clinical or rodent research backgrounds will receive equal consideration, with the understanding that they would transition to at a research program that includes at least 50% of nonhuman primate-based research within a reasonable period.
A CRNA is a member of the OHSU Professional Staff practicing in accordance with the respective bylaws. The CRNA shall provide pediatric services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. The CRNA is expected to comply with scope of practice, other laws, regulations, OHSU policy, and other applicable professional standards of practice.
Clinical Service:
- Provides pediatric anesthesia care within the care team model commensurate with education, licensure, certification, and within limits of experience and expertise.
- In collaboration with and under the direct supervision of a medically directing anesthesiologist:
- Perform pre-anesthetic assessment on all patients.
- Interpretation and treatment of all pertinent lab and assessment data.
- Obtain additional lab data, medical testing and additional consultation as appropriate.
- Develop and implement an anesthetic plan.
- Proper selection and placement of invasive and non-invasive modalities for monitoring and evaluating patients throughout the perioperative period.

- Verify that all standard and special anesthesia equipment is operational prior to the anesthetic.

- Active participation in scheduled continuing education opportunities in the Dept APOM.
Administrative Activities:
- May participate in additional departmental or hospital administration as approved by the Chair, supervising Vice Chair, Chief CRNA, or CRNA site director.
Other activities:
- May engage in public service through activities with OHSU and non-University groups as approved by the Chair.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Inpatient Responsibilities: Providing inpatient care and follow-up of assigned patients from OR to admission, and through discharge at multiple surgical locations, including OHSU and primarily Hillsboro Medical center with an anticipated ratio of 40% Bariatric patients, 30% Vascular patients, and 30% General Surgery patients Includes, but is not limited to: rounding on a daily basis with the faculty, developing and implementing, in conjunction with faculty physicians, clinical plans of care and/or protocols for inpatients on the Bariatric, Vascular, and General Surgery service with common conditions/diagnoses/procedures; educating the house staff and nursing unit staff on these protocols, with the goal of enhancing quality of care, enhancing quality of patient services, and decreasing length of inpatient stay; participating with hospital/unit staff in evaluating results of these protocols and continually improving effectiveness of same; working actively with hospital and unit staff to rapidly develop and implement discharge plans for inpatients on the Bariatrics, Vascular and General Surgery service and to address length of stay issues; promoting and maintaining health of inpatients on the Bariatric and General Surgery service through the use of ancillary services, educational materials, and counseling of patients and families; providing resident and intern training/education in utilization of plans of care to improve patient services and outcomes of treatment; providing and/or participating in clinical in-service training and staff educational programs for the inpatient service. Following all customer service standards as outlined above.
- Operating Room Responsibilities: Provide operating room and procedural assistance to Bariatric, Vascular and General surgeons as determined by the Division Head or their designee(s). Includes assistance in performing laparoscopic and robotic surgeries to include, bariatric sleeves gastrectomy, gastric bypass, duodenal switch, foregut, colorectal, and vascular procedures.
General Responsibilities
- Teaching: Providing teaching of General Surgery surgical and diagnostic treatments to medical students, interns, residents, inpatient general surgery nursing staff, and other Division support staff on the inpatient and/or outpatient service. Providing and/or participating in clinical in-services and staff educational programs for the outpatient & inpatient General Surgery service.
- Call Coverage: Provide pager coverage on some week nights Monday through Thursday, and OR call coverage on occasional weekends which includes Saturday morning rounds, on a variable rotating basis.
- Practicing medicine as an employee of OHSU at OHSU Hospitals and Clinics (collectively, “Hospital” and, except as otherwise provided in this paragraph 7 of the “Clinician Employment Agreement,” not otherwise), OHSU-affiliates, the Portland VA Medical Center, and community sites
- Maintaining licensure to practice medicine in the state of Oregon and any other jurisdiction where licensure is necessary for a Clinician to perform the professional services contemplated hereunder and to maintain medical staff privileges at the Hospital
- Participating in site-specific tumor boards and multidisciplinary clinics
- Contributing to departmental quality meetings, i.e. chart rounds, M&M, and others
- Educating medical students, residents, medical technologists, and physicists in accordance with the educational mission of the department
- Working towards making significant contributions to the science and understanding of radiation oncology and biology.

- Complying with the bylaws, resolutions, policies and standards of OHSU and the SoM in effect and as may be amended from time to time, including without limitation:

- the OHSU Code of Conduct policy,
- the OHSU Conflict of Interest policies,
- all policies and requirements regarding the preparation and maintenance of medical records and the billing for patient services, and
- OHSU Policy No. 03-30-060
- any additional terms and conditions of employment specifically contained in Exhibit A of the “Clinical Terms and Conditions” agreement
The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.
This position will provide patient care in the Psychiatric Emergency Service.
Academic rank begins at the level of Assistant Professor and may be higher depending on credentials. The position offers competitive pay and benefits, which may include a relocation allotment and/or a signing bonus.
